The Gospel of Mark according to the codex Bezae Cantabrigiensis, chapter 1

1 Beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, son of God:
2  as it stands written in Isaiah the prophet :
Lo! I am sending my messenger
ahead of you, one who will prepare
your way; 3 a voice of one crying out in the
desert: Make ready the Lord's way,
lay straight the pathways of your God!
4 So John came in the desert, baptizing
and proclaiming a baptism of repentance
for forgiving of sins.
5 And there were going forth to him all the Judean
area and all people of Jerusalem
and they were all baptized in Jordan by him,
confessing their sins.
6 And what John wore was a camel skin
and what he ate was crickets and wild honey.
7 And he was telling them: 8 I indeed,
baptize you in water
but there is coming after me who is greater than me:
his thong I am not capable to untie
from his sandals
He baptizes you in the Holy Spirit.
9 And it happened in those days:
Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee
and was baptized in the Jordan by John;
10 And coming up out of the water
he saw the heavens opened
and the Spirit like a dove descending
onto him.11 and a voice from the heavens :
You are my beloved son, in you I did delight.
12 And immediately the holy spirit drives him out
into the desert. 13 And he was in the desert for forty days
and being tested by Satan

and he was with the wild beasts and angels
would tend to him.14 And after was delivered,
John, Jesus came into Galilee
proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15 saying : The times have been fulfilled
and the kingdom of God is at hand;
repent and believe in the good news.
16 And going beside the sea of Galilee,
he saw Simon and Andrew,
his brother, casting
the nets in the sea; for they were fishermen.
17 And Jesus said to them, "Come after me,
and I'll make you become fishers of human beings.
18 Immediately leaving everything they accompanied him.
19 And upon going on a little further he saw James,
Zebedee's son and his brother John,
them too in the boat repairing
fishnets, 20 and at once he called them.
Leaving their father
in the boat along with the hired hands
they accompanied him. 21 And they entered into
Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbaths,
entering the synagogue, he was teaching them.
22 and they were astonished at his teaching,
for he was teaching them as one
having authority, not as the scribes.
23 And there was in the synagogue a man
with an unclean spirit, and he cried out, 24 saying:
What is to us and to you, Jesus Nazarenian?
Did you come to destroy us?
I know who you are, the Holy One of God.
25 And he rebuked him, saying : Be muzzled
and come out of the man, unclean spirit.

26 And the unclean spirit came out;
after wrenching him and screaming with a loud voice,
it came out from him 27 And they all marveled,
so as to question each other, saying: What
such a teaching, this new authority,
so that he commands the unclean spirit,
and they obey him!
28 And the report of him immediately went out
to all the region, round about, of Galilee.
29 And upon coming out of the synagogue
he went into the house of Simon
and Andrew with James and John.
30 Simon's mother-in-law lay with fever
and they immediately tell him about her.
31 And approaching, holding his hand
prevailing, he raised her up : and immediately
the fever left her and she started waiting upon them.
32 And evening having come, when the sun set,
they kept bringing to him all those who were ill with
various diseases and those possessed by demons.
33 And the whole town had gathered
at his door. 34 And he healed them
and those who had demons he exorcised them
from them and he would not let them speak
because they knew him and he healed many
who were ill with various diseases
and he exorcised many demons.
35 And in the very dark morning he came out,
and went into the deserted place
and there began to pray. 36 And then Simon
and those with him hunted him down.
37 And when they found him they told him: They are
all seeking you. 38 And he says to them : Let us move

into the villages and into the cities,
so that I may preach there, for, for this, I came forth.
39 And he was preaching in their synagogues
over all Galilee and casting out demons.
40 And there comes to him a leper asking him
and saying : If you are willing, you can cleanse me.
41 And moved to anger, upon stretching out his hand
he touched him and he tells him: I am willing, be cleansed.
42 And immediately the leprosy went away from him
and he was cleansed. 43 And after addressing him
sternly he immediately dismissed him. 44 And he says to him :
See that you don't say anything to anyone, but go, show yourself
to the priest and take for your cleansing
the things Moses directed, for a testimony to them.
45 But upon leaving, he began to proclaim
and to make the story public knowledge,
so that Jesus could no longer in plain view enter
the city  but he stayed outside in deserted areas;
and they came to him from all around.
